Armored vehicles

An armored car is an armored motor vehicle, usually armed with a cannon or machine guns, usually housed in a turret.
The primary purpose of most armored cars was reconnaissance, less often combat. Usually the armor of armored cars only protected against rifle shells and shrapnel. Depending on the weight and armament, light, medium and heavy armored cars are sometimes distinguished. Armored cars should not be confused with wheeled armored personnel carriers, the task of which is to transport soldiers.
