Avro 698 Vulcan to brytyjski poddźwiękowy bombowiec strategiczny skonstruowany w zakładach Avro. Vulcan to metalowy średniopłat w układzie delta, bez usterzenia poziomego. Podstawową jednostką napędową stanowiły-systematycznie modernizowane-cztery silniki Bristol Siddeley Olympus. Avro Vulcan, razem z bombowcami Vickers Aliant oraz Handley Page Victor, należał do słynnej serii "V". Pierwszy oblot prototypu maszyn Avro Vulcan miał miejsce 31.08.1952 roku, natomiast oblot wersji seryjnej miał miejsce w 1955 roku, a pierwsze dostawy do jednostek liniowych zaczęły się w 1957 roku, a ostatni Vulcan został dostarczony w 1965 r. Łącznie zbudowano 134 egzemplarze tego samolotu. Vulcan był produkowany w dwóch wariantach B.1 oraz B.2-wersje różniły się od siebie przede wszystkim jednostkami napędowymi oraz wielkością skrzydeł. Warto zaznaczyć, iż efektowny szaro-zielony kamuflaż był stosowany dopiero od 1963 roku, wraz ze zmianą charakteru misji Vulcanów. Zamiast lotów na dużej wysokości miały teraz latać na niskim pułapie. Jedyny raz zostały wykorzystane bojowo w czasie wojny o Falklandy w 1982 roku. The Avro 698 Vulcan is a British subsonic strategic bomber developed at Avro's facilities. The Vulcan is a metallic mid-plane in a delta configuration, without a horizontal tailplane. The basic propulsion unit was-systematically upgraded-four Bristol Siddeley Olympus engines. The Avro Vulcan, along with the Vickers Allied and Handley Page Victor bombers, belonged to the famous "V" series. The first flight of the Avro Vulcan prototype machines took place on 31.08.1952, while the flight of the serial version took place in 1955, and the first deliveries to line units began in 1957, and the last Vulcan was delivered in 1965.A total of 134 examples of this aircraft were built. The Vulcan was produced in two variants, the B.1 and the B.2-versions differed primarily in their propulsion units and wing size. It is worth noting that the striking gray-green camouflage was used only from 1963, along with a change in the nature of the Vulcans' mission.
