Descripción histórica y aplicaciones

El A-26C-15 Invader fue uno de los bombarderos bimotores más avanzados producidos por Estados Unidos durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial (años de servicio: 1944-1950). Fue ampliamente utilizado por la USAAF tanto en Europa Occidental como en Italia, así como en el teatro de operaciones del Pacífico. Era reconocido por su alta carga útil (2,7 toneladas de bombas), excelente velocidad y armamento eficaz: ametralladoras de hasta 12,7 mm. También sirvió durante la Guerra de Corea. Su operación requería tripulaciones de tierra entrenadas, responsables de preparar la aeronave para las misiones de combate más exigentes bajo fuego enemigo y limitaciones de tiempo.
