Fujimi 460970 Fune Next Series Japanese Navy Battleship Kongo w/Photo-Etched Parts 1/700

Fujimi 460970 Fune Next Series Japanese Navy Battleship Kongo w/Photo-Etched Parts in 1/700 scale is a highly detailed plastic model kit that replicates the famous Japanese battleship Kongo with exceptional accuracy. The model is part of the renowned Fune Next series, developed to maximize simplicity of assembly while maintaining an extremely high level of detail.

Kongo was one of four ships in its class, originally designed in Great Britain and built for the Imperial Japanese Navy. Launched in 1912 – initially as a battlecruiser – it served as an escort and flagship of a flotilla during World War I. Before World War II, it underwent significant modernization, transforming into a fast battleship. During World War II it participated in operations in the Pacific, including the Battle of the Philippine Sea and escorting Japanese aircraft carriers, until it was sunk by the American submarine USS Sealion in November 1944.

  • 1/700 scale – perfect for detailed display while maintaining compact size
  • Served in the Japanese Navy from World War I through to the end of World War II
  • Fune Next version: parts engineered for precise, glue-free assembly – snap-fit connections
  • Includes photo-etched details: railings, stairs, antennas, and other fine elements to enhance realism
  • Detailed replicas of main and anti-aircraft armament, superstructures, masts, and lifeboats
  • Material: precisely molded plastic with additional photo-etched metal parts
  • Category: plastic ship model kit with photo-etched parts included

Thanks to Fune Next technology, this product is recommended for both intermediate and experienced modelers who want to combine ease of assembly with top-tier quality and detail. The addition of photo-etched elements allows you to create a realistic miniature, ideal for a collection or historical diorama.
Difficulty level: 3/5 – ideal for intermediate modelers, and demanding collectors as well.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
