Fujimi 433745 Sea Way Model (EX) Series IJN Heavy Cruiser Atago (1944/Battle of Leyte Gulf) 1/700

Fujimi 433745 Sea Way Model (EX) Series IJN Heavy Cruiser Atago (1944/Battle of Leyte Gulf) 1/700 is a detailed plastic model kit representing the Japanese heavy cruiser Atago in 1/700 scale, faithfully recreated according to its state in October 1944 – during the pivotal Battle of Leyte Gulf. This model is an excellent choice for naval history enthusiasts who value both attention to detail and historical accuracy in execution.

  • Scale: 1/700
  • Country of service: Japan (Empire of Japan)
  • Historical period: World War II (1944, Battle of Leyte Gulf)
  • Category: Plastic model kit
  • Material: High-quality plastic
  • Parts: Detailed hull, main and anti-aircraft gun turrets, realistically recreated superstructures, mast, light armament, and deck equipment details

Atago was one of four Takao-class heavy cruisers – vessels that formed the backbone of the Japanese surface fleet during World War II. In 1944, Atago underwent a series of upgrades strengthening her anti-aircraft armament and detection systems, which have been accurately reproduced in the Fujimi model. During the Battle of Leyte Gulf, Atago was part of Admiral Kurita’s so-called Powerful Center Force, participating in one of the largest and most significant naval battles in history.

The Fujimi 433745 model is characterized by very high sprue quality, precise reproduction of fine details, and excellent part fit. Thanks to thoughtfully designed sprue segmentation and a wealth of intricate details, the model offers top-level realism. There is also an option for additional enhancement with photo-etched sets (available separately), which can further elevate the final result.

We recommend this model to experienced modelers and enthusiasts of the history of the Japanese Navy, for whom both historical fidelity and the satisfaction of building a high-difficulty model kit (difficulty level 4/5) with their own hands are important. This product provides an excellent foundation for collections, allowing the reconstruction of a famous ship from one of the pivotal battles of World War II.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
