Fujimi 433578 Sea Way Model (EX) Series IJN Heavy Cruiser Ibuki Renewal ver. 1/700

The Fujimi 433578 Sea Way Model (EX) Series IJN Heavy Cruiser Ibuki Renewal ver. 1/700 is a faithfully reproduced plastic model kit representing the Japanese heavy cruiser Ibuki in 1/700 scale. The Ibuki was the last ship of the Mogami class, designed as part of the ambitious expansion of the Imperial Japanese Navy just before the outbreak of World War II. Although the ship was converted into an aircraft carrier during construction in response to the changing nature of naval warfare, this model presents the original, unmodified heavy cruiser configuration from 1942–1944.

The Mogami-class cruisers, including Ibuki, were designed for maximum firepower and maneuverability. Ibuki was intended to be a forward-looking reinforcement to the fleet in the final phase of World War II, but ultimately saw only limited use due to its conversion. Its service period falls at the end of World War II, although it never engaged in battle in its original cruiser version.

The model is made from high-quality plastic, ensuring precise details of elements such as superstructures, main gun turrets, deck, and minor armaments. The Renewal version of this series features improved sprues and updated panel lines, faithfully reflecting the complex architecture of the upper deck and the specifics of Japanese naval technology of the 1940s.

  • Scale: 1/700
  • Country of use: Japan
  • Era: World War II
  • Material: high-quality plastic
  • Category: plastic model kit
  • Add-ons: detailed deck elements, improved superstructure details
  • Difficulty level: 4/5 – recommended for advanced modelers

We especially recommend this model to naval history enthusiasts, collectors, and advanced modelers who value high-quality details and faithful reproduction of Imperial Japanese Navy vessels. With the Fujimi Ibuki model, you can create a unique piece that will enhance any collection of World War II warships and become its focal point.

Scale
1/700

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
