Takom 8017 StuH 42 / StuG III Ausf. G Mid Production 2 in 1 1/35

The Takom 8017 StuH 42 / StuG III Ausf. G Mid Production 2 in 1 kit in 1/35 scale is a highly detailed plastic model kit faithfully reproducing one of two famous Wehrmacht vehicles from the World War II period. With the option to build either the StuH 42 with a 105 mm howitzer or the StuG III Ausf. G with a 75 mm anti-tank gun, this model allows you to create a symbol of German assault artillery or a tank destroyer.

Outstanding features of the model:

  • 1/35 scale – precise reproduction of details, ideal proportions, and full accuracy to the original.
  • Category: Plastic model kit.
  • 2 in 1 set – option to build either:
    • StuH 42 (Sturmhaubitze 42) – infantry support artillery equipped with the 10.5 cm leFH 18/40 howitzer, widely used by Germany on the Eastern and Western Fronts (1942–1945).
    • StuG III Ausf. G (Sturmgeschütz III) – one of the most-produced and widely used German tank destroyers, renowned for its operations on all fronts from 1942 until the end of the war.
  • Country of use: Germany (Wehrmacht, Waffen-SS).
  • Materials: High-quality plastic ensuring easy assembly and durability. The kit includes detailed decals, minor vehicle equipment parts, and tow cables.
  • Optional parts allowing the personalization of variant and model configuration according to the historical realities of the mid-production version.
  • High precision of details thanks to advanced injection molding technology used by Takom – exceptionally accurate surface details, sides, hatches, and running gear.
  • Model can be upgraded with aftermarket accessories (e.g. metal barrels, mesh screens, tracks).

Historical background

The StuG III Ausf. G was the primary German assault gun from 1942, participating in key battles such as Kursk, the Ardennes, and the urban fighting in Berlin. The StuH 42 played a fire support role, effectively assisting infantry in engagements with fortifications and enemy infantry. Both variants are symbols of the development of German armored weapons during World War II.

Who do we recommend it for?

We recommend this model to intermediate and advanced modelers who value historical accuracy and a wide array of building options. The difficulty level is rated at 3/5 – it requires precision and patience, but satisfaction with the final result is guaranteed. Absolutely recommended for armored vehicle enthusiasts and World War II collectors.

Scale
1/35

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
