History and Use of the AH-64D/DJ Apache

The AH-64D Apache Longbow is a versatile attack helicopter designed in the United States by Hughes, and later produced by McDonnell Douglas and Boeing. The AH-64DJ version is a Japanese variant produced under license. This helicopter is primarily used by the US Army and the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force.

The Apache has been widely used in conflicts from the late 1980s to the present day, including the Gulf War, operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as numerous international peacekeeping missions and support operations. Its most recognizable feature is the radar mounted above the rotor and its ability to provide intense firepower thanks to its armament of Hellfire missiles and a 30 mm M230 chain gun.

  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
