Modelsvit 72014 VVA-14 Experimental Amphibious Aircraft 1/72 is an extremely interesting proposal for advanced modellers and enthusiasts of Soviet Cold War aviation. This kit allows you to recreate the unique experimental Bartini Beriev VVA-14 aircraft – a vertical take-off, ground-effect amphibious wing (Ekranoplan), developed in the Soviet Union in the early 1970s.

The model is made in the popular 1/72 scale, which allows for an accurate representation of the unusual shape of this avant-garde project. The VVA-14 was created in response to the threat posed by American Polaris-class submarines and was mainly intended for anti-submarine warfare. A characteristic feature of this aircraft was its ability to take off from both water and land, as well as to cruise at high speed just above the surface of the sea, utilizing the ground effect, which greatly increased the range and effectiveness of patrolling large bodies of water.

  • Scale: 1/72
  • Country of origin: Soviet Union
  • Period of use: Cold War (1970s, withdrawn in 1987)
  • Material: high-quality plastic (polystyrene)
  • Set contents: plastic parts for assembly, clear assembly instructions, decals
  • Category: plastic scale model kit
  • Add-ons: no metal or resin parts – a basic set ideal for further upgrading

Modelsvit 72014 faithfully reproduces the details of the original VVA-14 design, including its distinctive floats, wing layout, and fuselage with engine elements and cockpit. Carefully executed details, clear panel lines, and precise decals allow for the creation of an impressive replica, which will look outstanding in any Cold War aircraft collection. Due to the unusual design – of both the original and the model – the product is recommended for intermediate and advanced modellers (difficulty level: 4/5). Building this model requires precision, especially when assembling the fuselage and wing details.

Modelsvit 72014 VVA-14 is an excellent choice for collectors of Soviet experimental aircraft, aviation history enthusiasts, and all those who are looking for an uncommon project that poses a challenge to any modelling passion. The product does not contain glue or paints – these must be purchased separately.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
