Montex K48357 SPITFIRE VIII 1/48 – Set of masks and painting stencils for a plastic model

Montex K48357 SPITFIRE VIII 1/48 is a professional set of masks and painting stencils, specially designed for the Supermarine Spitfire Mk VIII fighter model in the popular 1/48 scale. The set is dedicated to modelers building plastic replicas of this historic aircraft, which was used by the air forces of Great Britain and Commonwealth countries during World War II, especially in the years 1943–1945. The Spitfire Mk VIII was intensively used on the Mediterranean front, in North Africa, and in the Far East.

The masks are made from high-quality black, matte self-adhesive foil, easy to apply even on curved or hard-to-reach surfaces of the aircraft canopy. A unique feature of the set is the possibility to use the masks both on the outside and inside of the glazing, allowing for faithful reproduction of the cabin frame structural details from both sides. The adhesive used in the foil ensures excellent adhesion without the risk of damaging paint layers when removed, and eliminates the need for Maskol-type products.

The set variants – Mini Mask, Maxi Mask, and Super Mask – differ in scope: Mini Mask covers the cockpit glass masks, Maxi Mask additionally includes precise stencils for painting national, tactical, and functional markings (RAF roundels, code numbers, panel lines, squadron markings, etc.), while the Super Mask is based on a detailed analysis of archival photographs and source materials, supporting the modeler with colored profiles of the aircraft. The marking stencils are made from semi-transparent, flexible foil with gentle adhesive, perfectly adhering even to highly curved surfaces, without the risk of paint seepage or model damage.

  • Intended for: Supermarine Spitfire Mk VIII – Great Britain, World War II
  • Material: Black, matte foil with high adhesion and flexibility

Montex K48357 is a highly recommended product both for advanced modelers who appreciate precision and realism, as well as intermediate aviation modeling enthusiasts. With this set, you will recreate the markings and canopy of a classic RAF fighter in your collection perfectly and quickly. Level of application difficulty: 1/5 (easy). An excellent choice for those who expect a professional result, high quality, and time savings when painting 1/48 scale models.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
