The M114A1 CRV (Command and Reconnaissance Vehicle) was an American armored reconnaissance vehicle produced from the early 1960s by General Motors/Cadillac. Designed as an amphibious vehicle, it was capable of water transport and airdrop, meeting the modern requirements of US Army reconnaissance formations. Although the M114A1 shared many features with the M113, it soon became clear that it did not meet expectations in the conditions of the Vietnam War. Low ballistic protection and mobility issues led to its withdrawal from the front line, being replaced by the M551 Sheridan light tank. Remaining units were transferred to police services by the mid-1970s.
