Historically, the Type 4 Chi-To medium tank was intended as Japan's response to the increasingly formidable Allied machines, especially the M4 Sherman tanks. Designed with anti-tank combat in mind, featuring a long-barreled 75 mm gun (adapted from the Type 3), the planned mass production version opens new possibilities for enthusiasts of historical armored vehicle modeling. Ultimately, only two prototypes were built, and the switch to a “simplified” variant aimed to facilitate production—however, these models did not see combat due to the end of World War II.
