The 15 cm schwere Feldhaubitze 18 (s.FH 18) howitzer was the basic heavy artillery piece at the divisional level for the Wehrmacht during World War II. Officially introduced into service on May 23, 1935, it played a key role in German war campaigns from September 1939 (the Polish campaign), through the Battle of France, operations on the Eastern Front, up to the defense of the Reich. In 1939, the Wehrmacht had 1,353 units, with the production peak reached in 1944 (2,295 units).
