The Sukhoi Su-27 (NATO designation: Flanker) aircraft and the carrier-based version Sukhoi Su-33 are multirole fighters of Soviet and Russian production. The Su-27 was developed in the 1970s and entered service in the USSR at the end of the Cold War, becoming the primary air superiority fighter. The Su-33, a modification of the Su-27, was adapted for carrier operations and introduced into service aboard the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov. Both designs are characterized by excellent maneuverability, modern armament, and a distinctive silhouette that has become part of the history of world military aviation.

The Su-27 and Su-33 fighters have been used primarily by the USSR, later Russia, and several other countries, including China and India (in export versions). The Su-27 has been used, among others, during conflicts in Georgia and current Russian air operations. Operational period: Cold War and modern times (1977 - present).
