Historical background of the battleship RN Vittorio Veneto

The RN Vittorio Veneto was a Littorio-class battleship commissioned into service with the Italian Regia Marina in 1940, at the height of World War II. It was a modern battleship and the pride of the Italian fleet, taking part, among others, in the famous Battle of Cape Matapan in 1941. It was designed to counter the most powerful Royal Navy vessels in the Mediterranean. Vittorio Veneto was distinguished by advanced armor design, turbine propulsion, and powerful main artillery – three turrets with 381 mm caliber guns. It served until Italy’s capitulation in 1943 and was later seized by the Allies.

Recommendation and purpose

We recommend this model to collectors and naval modeling enthusiasts interested in World War II and Axis naval forces. Due to its intermediate and advanced difficulty, the kit is a perfect ambitious project that helps to develop manual skills, modeling precision, and historical knowledge. The model highlights detailed structural features of the battleship and is a unique addition to any 1/350 scale warship collection.

Scale
1/350

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
