Historical Background

The s.IG.33(Sf) auf Pz.Kpfw.I Ausf.B self-propelled gun was built by the Germans to improve infantry support capabilities on the battlefield. The design was based on the chassis of the light Pz.Kpfw.I Ausf.B tank, on which a 150 mm s.IG.33 infantry howitzer was mounted. Due to the limited number of these vehicles (about 38 units built), they were mainly used by Wehrmacht units during campaigns on the Western Front as well as during fighting in North Africa and on the Eastern Front between 1940 and 1943. Despite fitting a massive gun to a light chassis, this vehicle played a significant role in supporting German army assaults.

Model Details

Dragon 6259 is a kit characterized by an exceptionally high level of detail. The use of segmented "Magic Tracks" makes assembly much easier and ensures a realistic effect. Additional photo-etched parts allow faithful reproduction of details such as shields and handles. The model does not include glue or paints, allowing the modeler to choose their own favourite finishing materials.

Who is it for?

The Dragon s.IG.33(Sf) auf Pz.Kpfw.I Ausf.B plastic model is especially recommended for intermediate and advanced modelers who value historical accuracy and the ability to personalize the model. The assembly difficulty level is rated at 4/5 – due to the large number of small parts and photo-etched elements. This is an excellent choice for enthusiasts of German military technology from the World War II era.
