Historical description of the Messerschmitt Bf 108

The Messerschmitt Bf 108 Taifun was a German four-seat sports and touring aircraft which first flew in 1934. It was commonly used by the Luftwaffe as a liaison aircraft and for pilot training both before and during World War II. It was mainly operated by Germany, though a number were exported to other countries, such as France and Hungary. Its excellent maneuverability and durable construction meant that the Bf 108 served on the Western Front, in Poland, and in the Balkans.

Historical period

The Bf 108 was used in the interwar period and during World War II (1934–1945). During the conflict, it served as a staff, liaison, and transport aircraft for senior Wehrmacht officers.

Scale
1/32

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
