Historical Background – Heinkel He 111Z

Heinkel He 111Z "Zwilling" is a unique German twin-fuselage transport and glider tug aircraft, developed based on the popular He 111H bomber. The machine was specially designed to tow the massive Messerschmitt Me 321 Gigant gliders for transport operations during World War II. It was used by the Luftwaffe from 1941–1945, mainly on the Eastern Front and in operations such as troop transfers to the Caucasus.
The He 111Z version was created by combining two He 111H fuselages, joined by a new central wing section and a fifth engine. Due to its unique properties and historical role in aviation, this aircraft is an extremely popular modeling subject among military aviation enthusiasts of the 20th century.

  • Perfect fit for ICM models – provides precise fitting and easy installation without extra work

Scale
1/48

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
