Fujimi 460642 Warship Next IJN Battleship Haruna 1944 Operation Sho-1 w/Photo-Etched Parts is an extremely detailed 1/700 scale plastic model kit depicting the famous Japanese battleship Haruna in its late World War II configuration, during Operation Sho-1 in 1944. The set is designed for naval modeling enthusiasts and collectors of historical vessels from the Imperial Japanese Navy.

The battleship Haruna was one of four Kongō-class ships, designed by British naval architect George Thurston and built at the Kawasaki Shipyard in Kobe. Commissioned in 1915, it served throughout World War I and the interwar period. However, it gained greatest fame during World War II, participating in numerous key operations, including actions in the Philippine Sea, the Battle of Leyte Gulf, and Operation Sho-1—which was an attempt to thwart the American invasion of the Philippines in October 1944. Ultimately, the battleship was sunk in Kure harbor during Allied air raids in July 1945.

  • Model scale: 1/700
  • Country of use: Japan
  • Historical period: World War II (1939–1945)
  • Material: high-quality plastic, photo-etched parts for maximum detail precision

We recommend Fujimi 460642 both to advanced collectors and experienced naval modelers, who appreciate historical accuracy as well as the challenge of assembling photo-etched details. This richly detailed kit ensures a satisfying building experience and allows you to recreate an authentic silhouette of the Haruna as it appeared in 1944.

Difficulty level: 4/5 – This model is recommended for intermediate to advanced modelers, especially those with experience working with small photo-etched parts.

Scale
1/700

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
