Fujimi 431369 IJN Destroyer Shiratsuyu-class 10pcs. 1/700 – Imperial Japanese Navy Destroyer Set

Fujimi 431369 IJN Destroyer Shiratsuyu-class 10pcs. 1/700 is a unique set of plastic model kits, depicting as many as 10 Shiratsuyu-class ships in 1/700 scale. It is an excellent choice for both advanced modelers and collectors of naval dioramas. This Japanese destroyer, whose name translates as "Shining Dew," went down in history as the first of its type, being the result of the Hatsuharu-class evolution from the 1930s. The models included in the set perfectly capture the silhouettes of these legendary destroyers, with close attention given to weaponry, superstructure, and hull details.

The Shiratsuyu-class destroyers were used by the Imperial Japanese Navy from the mid-1930s, actively participating in key operations during World War II. Ships of this class played an important role in, among others, the Battle of the Coral Sea, the Battle of Midway, and the Guadalcanal campaign, serving as part of the famous Tokyo Express. Despite restrictions imposed by disarmament treaties, the Shiratsuyu-class design proved highly effective: ships were armed with five 127 mm guns, eight 610 mm torpedo tubes, and depth charge throwers, making them a substantial force in Pacific waters. Weaknesses, such as limited anti-aircraft armament, were gradually addressed during the war.

Scale
1/700

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
