HMS Kent was the first ship of the Kent class, a subclass of the County class in the Royal Navy. The vessel was built in 1928 and was initially stationed in China. At the beginning of World War II – in 1939 – HMS Kent operated in the eastern Indian Ocean, taking part in the pursuit of the German pocket battleship Admiral Graf Spee. The ship was then reassigned to escort missions for Allied forces, and from mid-1940, it operated in the Mediterranean Sea, where it was damaged by a torpedo. After repairs, the ship served in the Royal Navy until the end of the war, fulfilling convoy protection and patrol duties. Ultimately, it was withdrawn from service in 1946 and scrapped in 1948 at a shipyard in Toulon.
