The battleship "Oriol" (Орел) belonged to the Borodino-class of battleships and was launched in 1900. It was one of five sister ships built for the Russian Baltic Fleet. "Oriol" became famous for its participation in the Battle of Tsushima in 1905 – one of the most important naval engagements of the Russo-Japanese War (period: turn of the 19th/20th century, so-called pre-dreadnought era). After the battle, the ship was captured by the Japanese.
