Historical information

The Kawanishi N1K2-J Shidenkai (factory designation "George") was one of the most advanced Japanese fighter aircraft deployed on the late World War II fronts. It was the direct successor to the classic N1K1 fighter. The aircraft had tremendous combat potential – powerful armament (four 20mm cannons), high maneuverability, and a robust airframe, enabling it to effectively compete even with such Allied aircraft as the F6F Hellcat and P-51 Mustang. The Kawanishi N1K2-J was widely used in the last air battles over Japan and during the defense of the homeland against Allied bombing raids.

Model features

  • Precisely cast parts with high detail, faithfully reflecting the appearance of the original
  • Cockpit with a replicated instrument panel and pilot seats
  • Optional painting schemes made possible by included decals
  • Easy fit of components allows for clean and precise assembly
  • No need for specialized tools beyond standard modeling equipment

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
