AFV Club 35254 Combat Engineer Vehicle M728 1/35 – plastic scale model kit

The AFV Club 35254 Combat Engineer Vehicle M728 1/35 scale model kit is an extremely detailed plastic kit that faithfully replicates the legendary M728 CEW (Combat Engineer Vehicle) based on the M60 Patton tank chassis. The M728 was primarily operated by the United States Army and several other allied forces. This massive engineering vehicle was introduced into service in the late 1960s and saw use primarily during the Cold War and into modern times, including service in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm.

The M728 CEW stands out with its turret-mounted 165 mm demolition gun designed to destroy engineering obstacles, as well as a robust winch, M9 dozer blade, and a crane, allowing it to carry out a wide range of tasks: from obstacle clearance and demining, to supporting the construction of fortifications or bridges. Its presence was crucial during both offensive and defensive operations where quick breaching of terrain obstructions or improvised fortifications was needed.

  • Scale: 1/35 – ideal for dioramas and displays with other armored vehicles in the same scale
  • Countries of use: United States (US Army) and armed forces of, among others, Egypt, Israel, and Oman
  • Period of use: Cold War, modern times (1965–present)
  • Material: high-quality plastic
  • Extras: features highly detailed parts, realistic tracks, replicated crane and launcher details, winch, dozer blade, as well as decals with authentic markings
  • Category: plastic model kit
  • Does not include glue or paints – these must be purchased separately

The AFV Club 35254 Combat Engineer Vehicle M728 1/35 model is especially recommended for advanced modelers and military enthusiasts who appreciate realistic replication of military vehicles. Precisely engineered parts and a clear assembly manual make this a rewarding challenge that results in an impressive finished model. Difficulty rating: 4/5 – due to the number of components and complex construction, it is recommended for those with previous experience building kits in this scale.

By choosing this kit, you will enrich your collection with an authentic engineering vehicle which will perfectly complement any Cold War or modern diorama, offering the opportunity for satisfying and ambitious creative work.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
