Historical description of the tank:

The KV-85, creatively developing the KV tank line, was the USSR's response to the increasingly stronger German armored vehicles in 1943–1944, especially to the appearance of the German Tiger. The tank was introduced into production in the autumn of 1943, and its main innovation was a rotating turret with a powerful D-5T 85 mm cannon, the same as in the early IS-1 versions. Only 143 units were produced in total, mainly due to the rapid development of newer, more advanced tanks from the IS family. The KV-85 replaced earlier KV versions in Soviet heavy regiments as a transitional unit. It took part in battles in the late stage of World War II, including fierce fighting on the Eastern Front, particularly during the winter offensive of 1943/1944.
