Historical Description of the TKS Tankette

The TKS tankette was a light armored vehicle produced in Poland in the interwar period and widely used during the September Campaign of 1939. Its modernization included equipping some vehicles with the modern, fast, and effective 20 mm wz.38 FK-A anti-tank gun, which significantly increased their combat capabilities. Thanks to this upgrade, TKS tankettes could effectively engage enemy light armored vehicles. The most well-known episode involving the TKS with the 20 mm NKM was the battle at Pociecha, where Second Lieutenant Roman Orlik destroyed three German Panzer 35(t) tanks.

TKS tankettes served mainly in the interwar period and in the first phase of World War II (up to 1939). They were a symbol of Polish engineering thought in the 1930s.
