The Bronco CB35203 Airspeed A.S.58 Horsa Glider Mk.II in 1:35 scale is an incredibly detailed replica of the legendary British transport glider used during World War II. This high-quality plastic model kit, manufactured by Bronco Models, is dedicated to both collectors and advanced military modelers, as well as all aviation enthusiasts interested in this era.

History and Use

The Airspeed A.S.58 Horsa Glider Mk.II was developed for the British Army during World War II. This large transport glider was used by the British Army and Commonwealth Air Forces from 1942, and its most well-known missions took place during Allied airborne operations. The Horsa Mk.II participated in Operation Overlord (Normandy landings – D-Day), Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands, and Operation Varsity, the largest single glider assault in history.

The glider was designed to transport troops and cargo – it could carry up to 30 soldiers or vehicles and military equipment. The second version (Mk.II) featured improved landing gear and an enlarged fuselage, making it one of the most versatile Allied gliders of its time.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
