The Armstrong-Whitworth F.K.8, also known as the "Big Ack", was one of the most robust and versatile aircraft of the Royal Flying Corps in the final period of World War I. Designed by Frederick Koolhoven, from 1916 this aircraft undertook reconnaissance, bombing, and close support missions. It became renowned for its great durability and ability to operate under the harshest conditions on the Western Front. The "Late version" features modified wings, modernized landing gear, and other details typical of aircraft from 1917–1918.

Copper State Models kits are famous for their exceedingly crisp reproduction of details, including a highly realistic cockpit interior, structural wing details, and engine parts. The set includes optional elements and a comprehensive decal sheet enabling the recreation of several historical Royal Flying Corps paint schemes. Modern sprue technologies make the kit easy to work with while allowing for accurate replication of even the finest nuances of the original.

This kit is recommended for experienced modelers and enthusiasts of historical aviation, as well as collectors of British World War I aircraft models. The build difficulty is rated at 4/5 – this is a model requiring precision and a certain level of expertise in handling delicate parts and decals.

Choosing the Copper State Models K1031 Armstrong-Whitworth F.K.8 Late version, you get a model that will develop your modeling skills and enrich your collection with an outstanding example of British engineering brilliance from the early days of military aviation.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
