The history of these machines is remarkably rich. The PZL P.23 “Karaś” and its P.42 and P.43 variants were manufactured by Polish State Aviation Works in the 1930s. These airplanes saw widespread service in the Polish Air Force and, after being captured by other countries, also in Bulgaria and Romania. They participated in combat operations during World War II, mainly during the September Campaign of 1939. The PZL P.43 version was also used by Bulgaria in the Balkans.
