Master SM-700-041 USN 16in/45 (40,6 cm) Mark 1 Barrels (1/700) – Set of Brass Naval Gun Barrels

The Master SM-700-041 USN 16in/45 (40.6 cm) Mark 1 barrels set in 1:700 scale is a high-quality modeling accessory designed for plastic models of US Navy ships from the World War II era. This product is dedicated to replacing the original plastic gun barrels of 16-inch/45-caliber (approx. 406 mm) naval guns used, among others, on the famous Colorado-class battleships and some South Dakota-type units. These guns were used by the United States Navy (USN) from the 1930s, with particular activity during World War II, for example on the USS Maryland (BB-46), USS West Virginia (BB-48), USS Colorado (BB-45), and other battleships participating in battles in the Pacific.

Set features:

  • Barrels made of precisely turned brass – perfect reproduction of even the finest ballistic details.
  • Designed for plastic models at 1/700 scale.
  • Realistically shaped barrel tips accurately reflecting the look of the original 16-inch Mark 1 naval guns.
  • Accessory installation is simple – just cut off the plastic barrel, drill a hole, and attach the brass barrel using cyanoacrylate glue (CA).
  • Excellent fit for models from renowned manufacturers, such as Tamiya, Trumpeter, Hobby Boss, FlyHawk, and others.
  • The product does not contain resin parts or photo-etched components – these are brass barrels only.

Historical use:

The 16"/45 caliber Mark 1 barrels were the primary artillery armament of USN battleships from the 1920s to the 1950s. They stood out not only because of their caliber but also due to their significant firepower, contributing to the success of the US fleet in World War II naval campaigns, especially during the Pacific island battles and bombardments of Japanese positions.

Product category:

Metal detail-up set for plastic ship models (metal upgrade).

Recommendation and difficulty:

We highly recommend this product both for advanced modelers and intermediate ship model builders who want to enhance realism and detail accuracy in their finished model. Assembly difficulty level: 2/5 – basic technical skills are sufficient to use this accessory. The metal barrels increase the durability and aesthetics of the model, while eliminating the risk of bending or breaking the original plastic parts.

By choosing Master SM-700-041, you are investing in unmatched realism for your battleship model and the longevity of its display.

Scale
1/700

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
