The Shot Kal Gimel is an Israeli modernization of the famous British Centurion tank. After the Six-Day War, Israel carried out intensive upgrades to its Centurions, equipping them with powerful diesel engines and Israeli 105mm guns, among other improvements. The 'Gimel' variant (the third stage of modernization) was introduced in the early 1980s – these tanks played a key role during Operation "Peace for Galilee" in Lebanon in 1982. The Shot Kal Gimel remained one of the most important vehicles of the Israel Defense Forces for two decades during the Cold War, serving from the 1970s to the mid-1980s.
