Roden 719 OPEL BLITZ (Daimler built, L701 Einheitsfahrerhaus) is a high-quality plastic model kit in the popular 1:72 scale, faithfully recreating the iconic military truck used by Germany during World War II. This model from the Roden series depicts the details of the famous version with the so-called "standardized driver's cab" (Einheitsfahrerhaus), produced under Daimler license as the L701.
Historical Information
The OPEL Blitz is a legend of German military automotive engineering. The L701 Einheitsfahrerhaus variant was introduced during the second half of the war to streamline and speed up production through a standardized, simplified cab design. This vehicle was used by the Wehrmacht from 1937 until the end of World War II, with its peak period of use being 1943–1945. The OPEL Blitz was widely utilized on all fronts: from Western Europe, through North Africa, to the Eastern Front. It served as a universal transport truck, ambulance, radio truck, or even as a mobile field kitchen.
