Master AM-48-070 Harrier FRS.1 / FRS.51 - Pitot Tube & Angle Of Attack probe (1/48)

Master AM-48-070 Harrier FRS.1 / FRS.51 is a professional set of precision-turned brass details, created for modelers building the popular 1:48 scale Harrier FRS.1 and FRS.51 models. The set is designed primarily for use with Airfix kits, but can also successfully be used with other kits in the same scale.

The set includes highly detailed brass replacements: a pitot tube and an angle of attack probe. These two components are key details in the Harrier FRS.1 generation fighter aircraft (British carrier-based vertical take-off and landing fighter) and the export version FRS.51 used by India. Both versions participated, among others, in the Falklands War in 1982; the FRS.1 was widely used by the Royal Navy during the Cold War, while the FRS.51 served with India until the early 21st century.

Each element is made of high-quality turned brass, which ensures not only perfect scale accuracy but also unparalleled durability compared to the plastic counterparts from base kits. Using such accessories allows for an extremely realistic effect, which will be appreciated by the most demanding modelers. Assembly is simple – just cut off the plastic equivalents, drill holes, and use cyanoacrylate glue.

  • Scale: 1/48
  • Category: metal model detail, accessories for plastic scale models
  • Material: high-quality turned brass
  • Intended for: Harrier FRS.1 and FRS.51 models (Airfix, but compatible with other brands in the same scale)
  • Countries of origin users: United Kingdom, India
  • Period: Cold War and modern era (FRS.1: 1978–2006, FRS.51: 1983–2016)

This product is especially recommended for intermediate and advanced modelers who want to take the appearance of their model to the next level of realism. The extremely high level of detail and ease of installation make it one of the most popular accessories for aircraft models in this scale.

Assembly difficulty level: 2/5.

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
