The Hobby Boss 80225 Bf109 G-6 (early) 1/72 scale plastic model kit is a precisely reproduced miniature of one of the most recognizable and iconic fighter planes of World War II – the Messerschmitt Bf 109 in the G-6 early production version. The box does not include glue or paints, which need to be purchased separately, allowing for individual assembly techniques and paint personalization. This product is dedicated to both collectors and advanced modelers who value high-quality detailing.

  • Service period: World War II (years 1943-1945)

  • Additional parts: clear canopy, detailed cockpit, recessed panel lines, optional underwing armament

Historical background

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-6 (early variant) played a key role on the fronts of World War II from 1943 onwards. It was used mainly by the Luftwaffe in combat over Europe, especially during massive aerial battles over Germany in defense against Allied bombers, as well as on the Eastern Front against Soviet air forces. This variant was characterized by the distinctive "bulges" (Beule) on the engine covers, a result of installing heavier armament – two 13 mm MG 131 machine guns. The Bf 109G-6 was widely used by many fighter units and considered the primary fighter of the German army until the end of the war.

Model properties

  • Highly accurate representation of the shape and details characteristic of the G-6 (early) version
  • Option to choose historical paint schemes – the instructions include color layouts that enable painting the model according to authentic variants used by Luftwaffe pilots
  • Short construction time while maintaining a high degree of realism
  • Ideal for both aviation dioramas and as a standalone model for a World War II collection

Who is this recommended for?

The Hobby Boss Bf109 G-6 model is an attractive option for beginner and intermediate modelers – the build difficulty level is 2/5. Thanks to the excellent quality-to-price ratio and simplified construction with few small parts, it is a great choice for a first encounter with WWII fighters in 1/72 scale, while also allowing for advanced personalization. Clear details and good parts fit guarantee satisfaction with assembly as well as an aesthetic final result.

Scale
1/72

What does the scale of the model mean?

A model scale designation such as 1:30 means the model is 30 times smaller than the original. Scale indicates proportion, not resolution or detail.

  • Models with a smaller number after the colon (e.g. 1:48, 1:32) are larger and have more detail.
  • Scales with higher numbers (e.g. 1:164, 1:200, 1:350) are smaller - good for collections, dioramas, or displaying many models together.
